Research SBU Research Center Mission
 
 
 

 

 

The mission of the Research Center at SBU is to provide ongoing research on topics that are of interest to the university, the AOM profession and to society at large. The primary goals of the Research Center are:

    1. To provide the SBU and external research communities with a resource to consult while pursuing research in AOM

    2. To undertake research on:
      a. Treatment efficacy,
      b. The basic mechanisms that support AOM treatment and theory,
      c. Demographic studies on AOM patients,
      d. Socio-economic and general population studies related to AOM healthcare,
      e. Technological advancements particularly in the development and testing of new and existing outcome assessment technologies used by AOM practitioners

    3. To provide support for all research projects undertaken at SBU with the highest adherence to ethical standards in research and with support and guidance from an internal human subject review committee.


In this regard, the research performed at SBU is committed to support the development of new knowledge and understandings in AOM; and to provide support to the ongoing development and growth of the AOM profession.

Recent areas of interest of research faculty include studies of Changes in Passage Rates on the California Licensing Exams, GMP Certification for Herbal Product Manufacturing and Development, SBU Becoming a Student Learning Centered Institution, Regulation of Regional Expression by Thyroid Hormone Characterization in the PC2 Promoter, Thyroid Hormone Regulation of Prohormone Convertase 1 (PC1), the Reliability and Validity of Thermography in AOM Normal and Abnormal Patients, New Approaches to Ling Shu, and translations from Wen Bing Tiao. In addition, there are ongoing studies involving corporate sponsorship for Thermographic technologies and for the development of new technologies in Pain Management.
