Congratulations SBU graduates of 2008!
After all the hard work, you are ready for the big event-South Baylo University's Commencement Ceremony 2008 to be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008.
The ceremony begins promptly at 10 a.m. at the Sarang Community Church, 1111 N. Brookhurst St Anaheim, CA 92801. A mandatory dress rehearsal and line-up for graduates begins at 9:30 a.m. Family and guests of graduates should be seated at the chapel by 9:45 a.m.
Parking at the Church is free for graduates and their guests on the ceremony day.
The ceremony lasts approximately two hours. No tickets are required, and the event is open to the public. No reserved seating is availble in guest seating. Guests are urged to carefully attend to children and valuables.

Mervyn Dymally biography:
Mervyn M. Dymally said recently, "I am busier than ever." Mr. Dymally is currently busy doing a great deal of civic work in education, state politics and international affairs (Africa, Asia and the Caribbean).
Dymally originally came to the United States from Trinidad, West Indies at nineteen to become journalism major at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. In Trinidad he was a staff reporter for The Vanguard, a weekly newspaper published by the Oil Workers Trade Union.
From Missouri, Dymally traveled to California where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Los Angeles State College and began his teaching career in Special Education with the Los Angeles Unified School District.
In 1960, Mr. Dymally worked as Field Coordinator for the Kennedy Campaign, then successfully ran for the Assembly in 1962. In 1966, he became the first African American to serve in the State Senate. In 1974 he again made history when he was elected as Lieutenant Governor. In 1980 he ran for Congress representing South Los Angeles County becoming the first foreign-born black to serve in the United States Congress.
Since his retirement from Congress in 1992, Mr. Dymally has traveled extensively throughout Africa, Asia and the Caribbean. He is a Distinguished professor at Central State University, Ohio and a member of the Faculty at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles.
Dr. Dymally holds a Master’s degree in Government from California State University, Sacramento, and a Ph.D. in Human Behavior from United States International University, San Diego. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the National Honor Scholastic Society. The former Congressman was Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and of the Subcommittee on Africa within the Committee of Foreign Affairs. He is married to the former teacher, Alice Gueno of New Orleans who was a teacher. He is the father of two children, Mark and Lynn, and the grandfather of Miya Dymally, Christian Dymally and Cameron Dymally.
Dymally presently serves as Honorary Consul, Republic of Benin, West Africa. He is Vice-President, Pacific Century Institute (China, Korea, Japan, US) and President of the Surplus Book Foundation, Inc. in Sacramento
