Brief Description:
The objective of this course is to provide essential knowledge for clinical application of TCM Reflexology. The lecture will focus on foot reflexology. Reflexology is the physical act of applying pressure to the feet with specific thumb, finger and hang techniques with the use of oil or lotion. It is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet with a premise that such work effects a physical change to the body. Around the world and throughout history, reflexology has been rediscovered and reinstated as a health practice time and time again by people around the globe seeking to deal with health concerns. In the West, the concept of reflexolgy began to emerge in the 19th century. Using reflexology to help patients in an acupuncture clinic is applicable and has been used in China for thousands of years. Reflexology has been introduced in "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine". The theories have been well established and clinical applications have been used to treat and prevent many types of illnesses. In the lecture, the techniques of reflexology will be shared and demonstrations will be provided. Many good cases will be discussed to assure the well understanding of the participants.
