COURSE DESCRIPTION
CODE	CI 613
TITLE	Clinical Internal Medicine SP 1 (200 hours)
UNIT	10
Prerequisite: CI 492, BS 383, BS 375, BS 221, AC 441, AC 442, at least 2 classes of HM 431, HM 432, HM 433, HM 434. During the Supervised Practice Phase (SP 1) Interns will be given the opportunity to manage patients under the supervision of clinic faculty. Each student-intern must complete a Western clinical impression and AOM diagnosis, as learned in the Clinical Observation II phase, for review and approval by a Clinic Supervisor. A treatment protocol must be established and approved by the Clinic Supervisor to include proposed western clinical impressions, AOM diagnoses, and a recommended treatment protocol that includes needling therapy, herbal prescriptions, and/or other AOM modalities that are applicable to the patient's condition(s). The Clinical Supervisor is required to physically be present at time of the patient's examination and treatment procedures, including needling therapy. Adjunct laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging procedures may also be required as well as potential consultations with other medical practitioners or referral.
